A Bolton man found himself in court after pulling out a fake air weapon during a dispute with a neighbour.

Issam Al-Ayesh got into a disagreement with a man on his street.

And during an incident in September 2021 he pulled out a fake air weapon.

Bolton Crown Court heard an alarmed member of the public called the police.

Brian Treadwell, prosecuting, said: “He was shouting and swearing and being abusive.

“They could not make out the specifics.

“Police attended and recovered the air gun.

“He is 47 and has no previous convictions.”

Al-Ayesh, from Rothwell Street, Great Lever, pleaded guilty to affray on the basis the gun was fake.

The court heard the other man knew it was fake and laughed about it, but a member of the public was alarmed to see it.

David Hewitt, defending, said a community order would be a suitable disposal.

He said: “He is in receipt of personal independence payments.

“There would be no issue with rehabilitation activity requirement days.”

Judge Nicholas Clarke KC said: “Both of you appreciated that it was empty, but others were more alarmed by what was going on.”

He placed him on a community order to last for 12 months and ordered him to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
