A comic con event in Bolton will no longer take place this weekend due to an unforeseen parking issue.

Comic Con Mania was due to host an event at Bolton Arena this Saturday, May 18, bringing the brand to the town for the first time.

However, due to Bolton Wanderers' League One play off semi-final win against Barnsley last week, the club will use the arena's car park as a coach park for fans travelling to Wembley on Saturday.

Now, the comic convention has had to move its date to August 3 due to the subsequent lack of parking.

A spokesperson for Comic Con Mania said: "Comic Con Mania Bolton will not be taking place on Saturday, May 18 - the new date will be Saturday, August 3.

"As a consequence of Bolton Wanderers FC getting through to the League One play off final, the car park is to be used as a coach park for fans travelling to Wembley. Running an event with no car parking would be extremely problematic.

"Your tickets will automatically be moved to the new date, anybody not able to make the new dates will of course be eligible for a refund."

In August, the convention will give fans a chance to meet celebrity guests, take part in a cosplay competition and parade, and take in some retro and current gaming.

There will also be props from hit TV shows and films, as well as set builds, and traders will also set up stalls.

Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton, who played the fifth Doctor Who and his companion Nyssa, will be there fighting off Daleks.

Also timewarping to the con will be Patricia Quinn, best known for her role as Magenta in cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
